Meet Landon Hood, CPA

I’m Landon Hood, founder of BuiltRight CFO. Over the last eight years, I’ve worked inside production homebuilders across both finance and operations, where my favorite part of the job was always the same: building forward-looking forecasts and sitting at the table to talk through real strategic decisions. I’ve always been drawn to the process of turning numbers into clarity — and helping people use money as a tool to move their business, and their lives, in the direction they actually want.

I started BuiltRight CFO because I believe builders and developers deserve financial support that goes beyond reporting what already happened. The most valuable work I’ve done throughout my career has been creating visibility for decision-makers — forecasting ahead, identifying trade-offs early, and helping leaders make confident choices before risk shows up in the results.

What motivates me most is working directly with owners and entrepreneurs who are building something meaningful. Helping them achieve their professional goals while also creating the kind of balance and freedom they want personally provides energy and excitement when I get out of bed every morning . When incentives are aligned and noise is stripped away, the relationship becomes simple: my success is tied to helping my clients succeed in the most efficient, thoughtful way possible.

BuiltRight CFO exists at the intersection of experience, passion, and purpose — providing practical, CFO-level insight to residential builders and developers who want clarity, alignment, and confidence as they grow.

Our Values

The values below reflect how BuiltRight CFO operates every day and the standards we expect of the clients we work with.

Our Mission

To help founders intentionally build the life they want, with their business serving as a tool to support it.

Our Process

1. Diagnostic & Discovery
Each engagement begins with a focused diagnostic to understand how the business operates in practice — including financial performance, project pipeline, cash flow dynamics, and decision-making processes. This step identifies risks, blind spots, and opportunities while confirming mutual fit and alignment.

2. Onboarding & Financial Foundation
Once engaged, onboarding establishes a reliable financial foundation by aligning data, assumptions, reporting, and communication cadence. The goal is accuracy, consistency, and visibility — without unnecessary system changes.

3. Annual Plan & Forward Planning
For most clients, an annual financial plan is created to serve as the backbone for forecasting and decision support. This plan translates operational goals into a clear financial roadmap, providing visibility into profitability, cash flow timing, and capital needs.

4. Ongoing CFO Support
Ongoing services focus on monthly financial reviews, forecast updates, and strategic decision support. The emphasis is on looking forward — helping leadership anticipate outcomes, evaluate trade-offs, and make confident decisions as the business evolves.
